Navratri or Navratra is a Hindu festival of worship and dance. The word “Navratri” literally means nine nights; Nav-Nine and Ratri-nights. The festival is celebrated for nine nights every year at the beginning of October although as the dates of the festival are according to the Hindu calendar (which is based on the Moon), the festival may be held for a day more or a day less depending on the calendar.

People heartly plays Garba till late night on all this 9 days.Some big organizations hire party plots and sell passes and play competition and give prizes to winner groups.

Navratri Festival is celebrated twice in India. For the first time,it is celebrated in Chaitra and the second is celebrated in Ashwin.There are many popular Navratri songs made till now.Some popular Navratri songs are Rang Tali..Rang Tali by
Singer Falguni Pathak and another popular song “Mata Rani Ne Kripa Barsayi”.

There are popular arties of Navratri like Jai Ambe Gauri Maiyaa and Ma Jay Aadya Shakti.People just play Navratri with full heart every year.

History of Navratri – Legend – Ram and Ravana
Yet another legend of Navratri relates to the Hindu epic Ramayana.It goes that Lord Rama worshipped Goddess Durga in nine aspects, for nine days, in order to gather the strength and power to kill Ravana. He wanted to release Sita from the clutches of powerful demon king Ravana, who had abducted her.Those nine nights became to be known as Navratri and the tenth day, on which Lord Rama killed Ravana, came to be called Vijayadashmi or Dusshera,signifying Rama’s (good) triumph over Ravana (evil).
